My aunt took this train across Canada and vowed never to do it again on VIA Rail because of this.

My wife & I rode this same train from Jasper to Vancouver, (after arriving in Jasper from Toronto by train several days before):

In spite of the tardiness it was still the trip of a lifetime, great scenery, great food, great onboard service & comfort.
