Other liveries were more attractive on GG1s. But, hey, she was still operating!

My high school railfan friends and I would actually rejoice when we saw one of these- they were a lot more colorful than the basic black (or dusty gray) worn by most of the other Gs at that time. Our other favorites were the few units that retained the yellow Pennsy wide stripe- such as Amtrak's 929.

That makes sense. I'd swear there was at some point in past a magazine article about an Amtrak blue livery which had been designed for these. I keep threatening to get a model GG1 and paint it in the black and red with white trim of Rock Island's "Rocket Freight" livery, think it would look good in that. Been threatening that since the 1980s - guess my threats don't amount to much, eh! Ya know, same pattern could be done with PRR's two hues of Tuscan, with gold or dulux gold trim. Hmm, what would a double ended Tuscan red or Brunswick green version of the blue with yellow bow wave Pere Marquette and C&O used look like?
