Unfortunately, it's a line-up of hopeless cases. The Strasburg Railroad has no need at all for the 1187 or the 972 and I believe that the groups that own the Pacific Lumber and Long Island Railroad Engines haven't had any money in years. Of the four, the 37 is probably the most practical candidate for an operating restoration. The 1187 might best be cosmetically restored for display someplace as one of the few camelback survivors. The LIRR Engine is probably a hopeless money pit, like the K-4. The 972....well, more of her ended up in a dumpster than is probably left. I guess you could jack up the smokestack and build a new engine under her. :o)
