I find it mind blowing what you can get away with running AC power. In the pre-AC, pre-DPU days, you are talking at least 4-5 SD40-2s to run this train, all the while running the very real possibility of ripping out a drawbar or pulling a knuckle apart. This train barely even has .5hp/ton! That is insane! I bet they crawled out of every sag and every little hill they touched coming down from Nahant!
