The lines cross so the down-bound trains take the steeper grade; the up-bound take the easier grade. That means left-hand running on the grade. :) /CraigMW, Minneapolis

Then he could switch back to track 2 at Summit. Who knows what the dispatcher is thinking. A place I wanted to go to and never knew where it was located until I arrived home one April in 1981. I was as close as Summit and Barstow, but somehow missed this spot.
