The Grand Junction, former Boston & Albany track through Cambridge connects the two. It runs from near Beacon Park to near Boston Engine Terminal.

I want to go to Maine and as I understand it I not only have to switch trains, I have to switch stations. If that’s true, as it used to be, it’s stupid.

Correct. There is no passenger service between the two.
