Interesting to see the grillwork protecting the windows on the road engine. I'm guessing the engine personnel from items being thrown at the locomotive.

I'm not sure which is more worth noting: that these lasted well past this date on Amtrak, or that repowered Alcos *didn't* do likewise on large freight railroads.
