Robert - although this wooden caboose was built in 1929 for the C&O, making it really old, I know of an older wooden caboose built in 1927 for the C&O that is still used - on rare occasions - and it's stored in the engine shed/house in Nelsonville, Ohio at the Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad. It's rust red - but kept in very good and usable condition. The HVSRY still brings it out on occasion to run behind their train. So that one and this one pictured above are probably the TWO oldest C&O wooden cabooses still in existence.
