Looking at 459 there and thinking that we're getting to within sight of someone having an operable 100 year old EMD locomotive, probably one of the NC, NW, SC, or SW, types from late 1930s. Let's see, according to my 1983 printing of the 1973 The Second Diesel Spotter's Guide the GP9s were built between 1954 and 1959; so, 459 there is heading for 60 years old if not already there. (I don't know its build date or heritage)

Bait and switch - from the thumb, I was expecting steam, lol. Nice shot, Jon!

You had me look it up. Aside from the sw7 switcher (built in 1950) they use for switching Argos in Martinsburg, 459 was built in July 1955 which makes it the oldest road geep still in service.

Hey, that's a significant little bit of data, cool! IF W&W had numbered locos like the Minneapolis & Saint Louis did the 459 number would have indicated it had been ordered or built in April 1959; but for this locomotive's actual date its road number would have been 755 in that numbering system.
