Tacoma lost a lot of when they decided to court the house that the railroads famous trains stopped at thru all the years up 1984. What a magnificent work of art. Well at least they didn't tear it down and the passengers could see it while passing it by. As I write this I was thinking that soon the scenic route thru Tacoma and southbound along Ruston Way thru the tunnel and down past Stellicom down past the massive Narrows Bridge and along the Puget Sound to Nisqually will be a view of the past for patrons of Amtrak. What a bunch of jerks. Even if you were rich enough to rent a private passenger coach it would still be on a Amtrak train doing the Amtrak new route. Hope they don't change the old scenic route. Pray !I would like to say tanks to Tom for this old photo and posting for a look into the past. OL SKOO I GUESS.

I rode the Amtrak with my 2nd grade class form somewhere between Yelm and Lacey up to Tacoma Union Station. It was such a thrill. That was October 1979. So much has changed. The 705 freeway interchange now occupies the location of the tracks. I believe Union Station was a museum for awhile before they made it a courthouse??
