Wonderful shot, just goes to show you if your modeling that "there's a prototype for everything" I bet the engineer had no problem with maintaining track speed on the flat part of the run.

Lucky shot Mark! But, wait! Why does this UP EMD E8 have ditchlights!? I thought ditchlights were invented sometime around the 70s-90s. So why does this EMD E8 have ditchlights back in 1955?

I know Mark. I was just wondering why it had ditchlights during that time because I thought trains did not have them until the 70s.

John, the ditch lights were added after their rebuild in the early 1990's.

Thanks John. I know that now. I misread this. I though the photo date was March 7, 1955. I now see that is March 7, 1995. This makes much more sense. Sorry for the confusion.
