Interesting and beautiful photo Steve. Nice capture! I like the "balance" of the Utah units with the two "visitor/oddball/non-Utah" units 1-1-3-1-1. I am probably not the only one who may ask, but why won't you or anybody "Unfortunately won't get the opportunity to see this sight again."? Is Utah Railway abandoning this line? The Coal Mine shut down? The traffic is being diverted? Questioning minds want to know! I would like the answer to your observation. Thank you! Unfortunately a lot has change in the last couple years. With the decrease in coal business. Union Pacific out bid Utah Railway for all the coal contracts. Putting Utah Railway out of the coal business. Utah Railway's primary business now is running local freight between Provo and Ogden area. They still run a couple freight trains a week between Provo and Martin (the Canyon) sporadic as needed runs. The Orange and yellow unit in the consist is actually is Utah Railway. It's the Genesee & Wyoming paint job, the parent company to Utah Railway. With the coal business gone most of the units in this picture and front of the train are no longer on the Utah Roster. The 6 MK50-3 5001-5005 have been move to the Kyle Railway another Genesee & Wyoming Company. Two of the SD50S have been ship off to other Genesee & Wyoming railroads. The Utah Railway roster consist of GP38-3 and GP40-3's, they have 3 SD50S left two in grey and red. The rest of the fleet is in the Genesee & Wyoming orange and yellow paint.

Steve, I get down to Ogden quite often, but still, I'd rather look for Patriot Rail instead of the G&W. I've been missing the Utah Railway & its classic paint scheme for some time now. I only wish that the Utah Railway Museum had an example of the Utah Railway in its: Gray, Red & Yellow paint scheme for the rail fans viewing pleasure.
