IMO, Amtrak's new policies are a public relations disaster. Their new "airplane" CEO is pushing people away from train travel.

Carl, soon we will see the fall of Amtrak. That new Avelia (I don't care if I misspelled it) is a waste of money! They should just rebuild the Acela. That train works fine! It has ADA compliance, is comfortable, and is fast. I don't see the need to buy new train sets when the current equipment will go just as fast. If anything, they need to upgrade the track. Anyways, enough ranting. I actually hope Amtrak doesn't fail, but with many railroads struggling such as Union Pacific with its stupid precision scheduling, Canadian National with its congested yards, CSX with it selling off perfectly good locomotives, and Amtrak with their CEO; it appears that this is yet another struggle for the railroads. This will probably go down in the books. Out of all of the railroads, it seems that BNSF and NS are the only ones that are stable.
