I wonder if the open door just provides better airflow in the cab, and better comfort for the crew? It's been pretty hot in New England these last few weeks.

Kevin, I am sure that is the reason although this particular day was not as hot as previous days. I have heard varying opinions from enginners that have run these units as to how much difference the open door makes. These units are also equipped with A/C but the A/C is out of service.
