Those new cruise ships look like they have a high center of gravity. A lot of surface area for a 90° wind to put a serious list in to a ship like that

What a magnificent structure. They not only did it but the old guys did it with STYLE.

I was taken on to this bridge with my model railway group a long time ago.. So long, the big boat was only a small rowing boat. It was evening, past the rush hour and we were taken underneath to the bothy for the workers. There we had coffee and a bun and went back up to track level. As the trains were infrequent when we were asked if wanted to "go over the bridge?" we said yes. it was only when we were being told about safety we realised the railway guys were talking about going up the outside to the top of the bridge. To the top of the hump, across the flat section and down the other side. We thought they meant to walk the track bed across the river. A couple of our members regret not doing it, but as I have a great fear of heights, I was quite happy to say "No thank you". Years later I had to go onto the bridge with a work party to demonstrate a tool to aid with the removal of the bolts holding the chairs in place. As a matter of interest, the sleepers, (ties) do not run at right angles to the track. There is a big channel that runs along the deck and big timber baulks are laid into that and the chairs are bolted to the baulks.
