To my knowledge from what I was told by one of the plant workers and someone with MDS, the MD stood for Marshall Durbin. I don't think this unit ever belonged to the Mississippi Delta railroad.

Thank you Dylan I figured RRArchives was wrong there but didn’t know what else to put. I had a note to look into that but I’ve been busy; I was hoping you or one of the other guys from the southern portion of the state would weigh in there. I’ll get that changed later.
