As a retired long distance truck driver, I have passed under this bridge hundreds and hundreds of time. Sometimes you would catch a train crossing it and other times not. This location is just a mile or so from Nickajack Lake. The tracks follow along the southern shore of the lake. If you are driving South on I-24 and look across the lake, you can sporadically see the tracks and sometimes a train especially when you are on the bridge just south of the rest area.

I was just about to mention what Dan just said. I've been down that very expressway numerous times, and have seen several trains go on that line. Once on that trestle. We always stop at the Nickajack rest area heading to Atlanta, and have seen trains every time, much to the pleasure of my God Son. Once, we had a train going along the track as we were leaving and we saw it go over the trestle. Great spot and the view from I-24 is excellent.

There is a two lane road on the north side of I-24 that has a little pull-off (left side of the photo) by the bridge. I've stopped there a couple of times to watch the trains go by. This perspective is a lot better than what I was able to get from the ground.

The roadway off to the left (north) side is the J. E. Clouse Highway; it is definitely safer to stop on the shoulder there then it is on I-24. I stopped off of Clouse for this shot early in the morning, I was only about 5 minutes ahead of the train and I only remember about 2 cars going by in that time. A shot from the dirt road by the billboards might be a good ground-level shot (I didn't have time to check).

This is awesome! I was here the other day and got to see two trains meet on the bridge.
