What are the units going to Birmingham Rail & Locomotive for? Rebuilt? Not scrap I hope.

All to be scrapped, there's no market for these outdated first gen macs. The cost of rebuild exceeds their worth. The first gen macs are and were temperamental creatures all to their own.

Well, that just sucks! Not even one saved for preservation!? I know that sounds a little odd, but you yourself said they were old. Well, thanks for sharing David. I hope you can get one of the horns off those awesome locomotives.

John, as of now to my knowledge there's not been any talks of one being preserved although 9400 would be a good candidate for such as they did pioneer AC traction on the commercial market for EMD. I personally am not a horn collector and have no use or particular interest in such nor do I condone potential theft.

Thanks for comment David. I wasn't suggesting theft, more like the scrap yard might sell you some for dirt cheap. But, because you aren't a horn collector, I guess that doesn't matter.
