It's only quite recently that I've discovered how appealing this era was. NS/CR was the only merger of that era I didn't find ugly. The mixes of models in blue and black (almost) all looked right together, totally unlike UP/SP or BNSF. It's the appearance of ordinary GPs on the mainline that makes scenes like this feel so right.
