Attorney and railfan Graham Claytor? That is selling him way short! How about war hero (as a DE skipper, he went on his own initiative and found and rescued survivors of the USS Indianapolis sinking), head of Southern Railway, Secretary of the Navy, and head of Amtrak? He is also the main person responsible for Southern Railway PS-4 # 1401 being preserved and now in the permanent collection at the Smithsonian.

Looks like it is frozen in time - great shot! PCA for me!

@ Dave: With the exception of war hero, which indeed he certainly was, as well as being the main person responsible for the preservation of Southern Railway PS-4 # 1401 after its retirement in 1952, the rest of those accomplishments (and many more) came at a later date. Still, thanks very much for bringing them to our attention! Both W. Graham Claytor Jr. and his brother, Robert B. Claytor, led fascinating lives and as railfans, we are eternally grateful of their contributions! I feel like you bring me back in time, Mitch.

Did your rods down picture not have as good a look as this one? That's an edgy shot for you...LOL

Wow Mitch. Outstanding. I've been travelling the past few weeks and fallen behind. Glad to see you won two awards with the picture. Wish I could have voted. Congrats.
