The behind the locomotive is the former Chesapeake and Ohio Charlottesville passenger station. Amtrak has for many years used the former Southern Railway station, about a mile to the west (left).

That is correct. The former C&O station at 600 E Main St is currently being occupied by two businesses, Cville Area Real Estate and GreenBlue. Amtrak shared the former SOU station at 820 W Main St with Wild Wing Cafe until it closed in 2020 after 17 years in business.
