I liked these a hell of a lot better than the SD40-2s. They were just about as quiet as the DASH 9s, even without the safety cabs and thicker glass, since GE's 4-cycle engines didn't make so much noise and their dynamic brakes were much quieter too.

That might be the first time I've seen anyone have something nice to say about operating older GEs as opposed to just railfan affection for them.
