Nice photo Georg. How long is the tunnel; I must say not familiar with this one or why a new tunnel was needed. Some of the railway engineering now in your part of the world is almost incredible!

For the admission of loaded trucks/containers/swap bodies with a corner height of 4 meters over the Gotthard axis, the Bözberg tunnel had to be extended. Since a refurbishment was needed soon anyway, it was decided to build a new tunnel of practically the same length in parallel. With the conversion of the existing tunnel into a rescue tunnel, safety could also be increased.
