The bridge in the open position was the original Norfolk and Southern Railway. In 1986 our 611 fan trip crossed that bridge while the N and W double track bridge was being repaired. The Norfolk and Southern bridge was permanently taken out of service some years later. The track and switch to the rear of the bridge tender house was removed.
