The end of PRR is already here: the second baggage car is PC.
Did "bald" refer to the shortage of markings or the lack of something else?

'Bald' - there aren't any solid or 5 lined pin stripes painted on the locomotives. Early PRR locomotives had 5 individual pin stripes to adorn each side of the locomotive front to back while later year PRR locomotives only had one broad solid stripe on each side of the locomotive front to back.

Bald - This sadly also reflects more about what the photo reveals as one looks at it. The baggage cars in the background, the track condition, the overall setting, and the RR setting.
