Great photos. Thanks for posting as photos of these trains at Dallas are not common during the 1960s. Here is information on both these trains: The photo of ATSF F7 310L at Dallas on October 26, 1967 is train #116 that operated from Dallas, TX to Gainsville, TX as train #116 and then as the second Section of the Texas Chief #16 between Gainsville and Chicago. The Dallas section of the Texas Chief operated separately as second 15 and 16 between Chicago and Gainsville until the Christmas season 1967. Unofficially the Dallas train was often referred to as the “Dallas Chief”. The photo of ATSF E8m 87 at Dallas on June 28, 1967 is train #116 that operated between Dallas and Gainsville as a connection to the Texas Chief#16 at Gainsville. The short Dallas connection between Dallas and Gainsville train #116 was discontinued on July 19, 1968. Information from SANTA FE PASSENGER TRAIN COMPENDIUM, Texas Chief section, compiled by Michael W. Flick and John R. Signor published by SFRH&MS in 2022.
