This small yard located near the University Of Tennessee and the Tennessee River is part of CSX's KD Subdivision (Corbin, KY to Etowah, TN). There used to be lots and lots of coal trains that passed through here on the way to electric power plants located in Georgia and Florida. A CSX supervisor told me that the KD was a big moneymaker until the coal runs were stopped. The tracks shown in the photo will eventually go behind my home and property located near Duff, TN. I do not see as many trains as I did due to this thing called precision railroading. But, I do get to see much longer trains with locomotives scattered through the train when I do see one. And that is good!
