I wish CSX would actually adopt this scheme to their locomotives. Bring back "Chessie" by putting her on the nose of both ends of the locomotive, and they can keep the "CSX Boxcar" logo on the sides of the units. The description for this photo Reminds me of a story I heard from a now-retired Norfolk Southern Engineer. Back when N&W and Southern merged to form NS, the day of celebration revealing the rearing horse logo on the nose of the locomotive chosen for the ceremony, the horse had "mysteriously" become a "Stud" (Male) horse, instead of the Mare (Female) they use. The reveal of the predominantly large anatomically-correct horse shocked the crowd, the press, the NS Management, and everyone in attendance. Needless to say, the Claytor brothers - CEO's of both N&W/SOU at the time - ordered the entire paint department staff immediately FIRED! I understand to this day, the Corporate NS Calendar that is available to the public for purchase, has several years that see the calendar literally "sell out" of stock when released. According to rumor, the reason is that somehow, the photo from that "event" has made it into the calendar, and it becomes a "collector's item" if you get one. Again, that is only a rumor I've heard from several NS people I know, both active and retired.

The irony of it all is the the Chessie nose had made its debut in the heart of ACL/SAL territory.

I like this better than what they are presently putting on the sides of the Locos with blue fronts and their crazy boxcar logo sides.

This just looks "right". Far better than anything CSX has done.
