I noticed that the new Flirt Evo has a Scharfenberg coupling instead of the Schwab coupling previously used by SBB. In my opinion, this creates unnecessary coupling incompatibilities. What is the deeper reason for switching to Scharfenberg? As far as I know, Scharfenberg has more problems with icing in winter than Schwab.

I do not know the background to the choice of the Scharfenberg coupling, but it is widely used internationally and has proved extremely successful. It is not intended that the Flirt EVO will run together with the existing vehicles. As joint operation is not required by the software, the same coupler is not needed.
