Mainline? LOL! Looks like a remote spot. Would be interesting to see something actually move on them tracks. They look horrible! Great shot Mike. ;)

You'll be supprised to hear that earlier this month (Nov 2004) D&RGW SD40T-2 #5354 came right through here on the CSX J745 & returned on the J746 train. I think it actually lead the J745 train, but unfortunally it ran during the night. But anyway, nice Iowa 626! -Kevin

John, Glad you like the photo - in spite of the less-than-specatcular setting. :) Mike

Nice shot! We get Iowa every day through Joliet. Ususally they have a 700 on the lead now, they are replacing the 400 series GP8s and GP10s. IAIS even own a M420R! Keep up the great work.

Actually, that is Track 9 which is run by the CSX. This connection is used by both the IAIS(to access the lumberyard) and the IAIS, CRL to access the Old Yard down by Blue Island Jct. CSX runs a couple other trains as well, which both the IAIS and CRL must be out of the way for them to go.

Kenny, Many thanks for the information. Even after looking at Bill Gusatason's map ("Chicago Rail Junctions") I wasn't sure whether or not to call this the IAIS mainline since the track it branches off from is apparently the CN main. :) Mike
