Is that the norm these days to get a P42DC leading a AMTK California train, with a standard Amtrak coach cut in the middle of the train?! Nice shot btw!

It is not totally uncommon to see a P42 on a Capitol train. Right now with all the mainline service disruptions on the Starlight and the California Zephyr, I think they must be putting the Amtrak California F59's into maintenance and using the P42's while they are sitting around idle. The 119 is usually assigned to the Starlight pool. That Superliner car has been assigned to one Capitol trainset for over a year. It is a Coach/Cafe care.
