CN Q116 departs Markham Yard on the south side of Chicago with a pair of “rent-a-wreck” leasers for power. The leader is CEFX 6020, an ex-SOO Line SD60.

Illinois Central ultimately acquired the very first SD45 produced by EMD. Prototype SD45 4351 became IC 7000 in January 1971. The 7000 lasted until 1987, when it was scrapped.
