It is a quiet Colorado morning in the snow and the Ski Train is running about 25 minutes late as it rounds the curve at the base of Coal Creek Canyon just below tunnel one.
The Ansco Ski Train makes its first run of the 2006-2007 winter season. The train, led by SKTX 242 (ex-AMTK 242) hustles west near Chem Spur (MP 14.5) on Union Pacific's Moffat Tunnel Subdivision.

After meeting its counterpart - the MNYRO - at Cliff, the MRONY departs east out of Cliff headed for North Yard in Denver.
The MNYPH (headed for Phippsburg, CO on the Craig Branch) approaches the east portal of Tunnel 30. The train consists primarily of covered hoppers, with a few other cars thrown into the mix.
It is hard enough to find an unpatched Espee unit in Colorado at all anymore, let alone on the point of a coal train!
