An NS 60E and two D9W's lug a heavy 173 through Gastonia as they have just passed Ranlo and crested a grade here.

213 struggles up the grade between Ranlo and Avon with just a UP AH and a NS D9 powering a lengthy train.

173 is rolling into Gastonia with a DC to AC rebuild leading two UP's.

213 rolls through the trench in Gastonia with perfect late after noon light.

They are now reversing into the plant to drop it off and get ready to head back to power drive.

Passing through Gastonia the train is nearing the Modena street site to drop the box car off.

They are getting close to Power Drive here as they come through an area just outside of McAdenville and they are just about to cross over the South Fork River.

Our next shot and my final chase shot 213 crosses over the Pacolet River with CBFX 6030.

Next spot we chased it to was Grover, NC. You couldn't have picked a better day for something neat like this to run. Also notice the difference in the number boards.

Word soon got out that 213 had a CBFX XBN SD60M leading. And the railfans came out for this one. So here's 213 in the trench in Gastonia. This is where we joined in the chase.

Coming back into Canton and lugging up the grade T31 passes the famous house and trestle.

Roaring back through town and just cresting the grade. T31 rolls by a bystander taking a video. I bet it was a good one with the train in notch 8 here.

T31 is in notch 8 passing Coburn to make a run up the 3.3% grade back to Canton.

T31 passes through the country side of Candler, NC as the mountains for which this railroad was named after makes a nice backdrop for this photo.
