Nickel Plate Road S-2 2-8-4 759 sits in the N&W shops property just east of the station for servicing after the Saturday excursion. It will run to Shenandoah, VA and return on Sunday.
The 759 is pulling hard in an autumn scene as it heads for the N&W main line and a return to Roanoke during the Saturday excursion to Virso, VA.
Nickel Plate S-2 Berkshire 759 pulls an excursion from Roanoke on the former Virginian Railway trackage. This locmotive is appropriate here where the Virginian's own Lima 2-8-4s used to roam.
