Last light of day, the blast of a horn, and a train across the Mohawk. Thanks to RP member Gary Schermerhorn for hipping me to this location.
Splitting the morning's quiet and headed to Selkirk.
Ethanol empties head north along the west bank of the Hudson, while a barge is pushed south. Also a commuter run snakes along the east bank of the river.
Essing into Painted Post under Route 17.
"Vintage" power at Selkirk. Nice running into RP member Gary Schermerhorn.
Arriving at Selkirk, I catch 568 passing through the tunnel under the hump. My first trip in several years.
Backing into the salt mine (sic). Thankfully the orange and black units were up front.
I would not mind this everyday commute at all.
Rolling through the marshes in the Iona Island Bird Sanctuary.
The sun sets on this Delaware & Hudson relic.
An old view of Selkirk Yard, today the towers are gone. Glad I had the opportunity to catch this view.
And the sun sets on High Falls.
Winding along the majestic Hudson.
There is just a touch of orange in the trees and BNSF power blaze orange ove Iona Island trestle.
After dropping off empties in Gang Mills, WCOR 307 heads back to Wellsboro.
