As I recall this was coming thru the former C of G Yard. There so many in those days I still marvel that they are gone. The show was over by 1974 though.

The four Southern FP7 units have been run around the excursion train and are ready to depart for the return to Asheville, NC. The rain had finally let up and the sun made a weak appearance.

Two high nose GP30 units sit next to the older FP7 units in Asheville. One of these units, 2601, has been restored at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer.

Southern Railway GP30 2551; SR roster 2525-2644. Only Southern and Norfolk & Western ordered GP30s with high short hoods, but unlike N&W, Southern specified the short hood as front.
