The Long Island Railroad had lots of electrics, but the diesels were my favorite.
Dual Mode trainset during the weekend layover. This view is from Pedestrian walkway that enters Theodore Roosevelt Park.
This was one of my favorite places also on the LIRR. Loved watching the trains and be sure to see the "wall of foamers" under the bridge at the station.
I love Forest Hills! Here a M7 set approaches the Forest Hills LIRR station as a few travelers wait to board.
A set of Budd M3 cars filled with commuters from New York City head home. The M3 will be retired in a few years.

West Side Yard is used for storage of LIRR trains. However new development will cover the entire yard making this view impossible.
Every type of passenger train on the LIRR can be seen here in this photo. Older M3's blast toward NY Penn as a DE30 set and an M7 race eastward.
One of LIRR's unique DE30's shoves commuters towards the city. The dual mode DE30 can operate on 3rd rail or diesel on the non electrified territory and branches.
M7's race each other inbound on the "route of the dashing commuter". The unique position light signals are still in use on the busy LIRR.
