On a delightful summer morning, the eastbound Rio Grande Zephyr tops Soldier Summit, 95 miles east of Salt Lake City and 475 miles west of Denver.
A fitting place of retirement
Only 44 miles into it's 570 mile journey east, Rio Grande Zephyr train #18 departs Provo station for Denver, Colorado. The sturdy brick depot at Provo, built in 1910, was torn down in 1986.
Rio Grande Zephyr train #18 rolls through the community of Spring Glen, about five minutes out of Helper. Next stop, Green River, Utah some 68 miles away.
