The fair train runs down the Palmer Branch from Palmer as it heads back to Anchorage with a train full of passengers. This was the first year that the railroad has added domes to this train.
As their last move of the day, the 459 job pulls empty coal cars from UAF to take back to the yard. The sky still has a nice blue tint even though the sun has been set for over two hours.
2007 switches coal loads and empties at the east end of the yard in Fairbanks. Coal is still the main source of power in this part of Alaska with several power plants in the Fairbanks area.
