The Rio Grande units have been removed and Western Pacific locomotives are being placed on the head end of the last Westbound California Zephyr to depart Salt Lake City for Oakland.
Emerging from the Eastern end of Niles Canyon, WP 2001 is taking the curve into the town of Sunol. This locomotive has been preserved at the WP museum in Portola, CA.
