Two C30-7s lead a Department of Defense train through Loachapoka. Use of autoracks sure changed the appearance of these trains, which for many prior years had relied predominantly on open flats.

Nearly new 5001 and near-antique SD70MAC 3961 lead a train south down McElhany grade. DPU on this train was comprised of SD70ACe 4013 and Progress Rail/EMD SD70ACe T-4 7211.

There are two more diesels - a C44-9W and an ES44C4 - behind 3727, and all 13,200hp are straining to get this westbound intermodal train over the hill just west of Neosho.

After running on NS from Mobile, this northbound returns to home rails at Kimbrough, which is identified by a sign visible from space.

For reasons unknown to the photographer, 611's power has been cut-off from the train and eased down the hill to the the station. That B30-7 off to the right is - I think - power for a work extra.
