Shortly after the merger of GN, NP, SP&S and CB&Q there were many examples of mixed running and mixed consists. Witness this meet at Scribner, WA on the former SP&S with a GN U25B and a NP SD45.

Two big ones dynamic down the rear of an empty coaler on Stevens Pass. The sounds of a big EMD in a canyon on the rear can be described simply as magical.

Winding down the canyon past some great fishing holes near Roza dam, old Rte. 97 offered a nice view of the NP across the Yakima River.
