Alaska Railroad 4009 is the lead unit on a coal train bound for export at the year round port of Seward. The train winds its way around Kenai Lake for more than a few miles on its journey south.

A coal train arrives at the southern terminus of the Alaska Railroad. This train will be unloaded and headed north in 5 hours to repeat the cycle again.
