On my last day in Alaska I managed to catch a company work train led by a matched pair of original paint GP40-2s. This is something I have been trying to capture for some time now.

The first passenger train of the morning passes the Hermosa Glider Port on a beautiful morning.

The Twin Peaks Subdivision is very scenic too bad because of directional running the line only sees northbound traffic. Still worth a visit to this very photogenic line.

The Cimarron Valley is a nice change of pace to the coal trains I see all the time. The fact that they run ex-Rio Grande GP30s is a bonus.
