Alaska Railroad nightly Anchorage to Fairbanks freight was northbound near Birchwood

A CSX GP38-2 and John Deere front loader sit side by side at CSX's Goodman Street Yard. The loader was being used to dump ballast on a newly installed switch on the yard lead.

After the new switch and track was laid down to replace the old one at CSX's Goodman Street Yard, front end loaders were used to spread ballast on the new tracks.

MRL 402 and 403 are parked at Logan< MT in between local duties. An end loader occupies the deck of an MRL flat car, making an interesting load for those with modeling interests.
