NS P91 departs South Greenville for Gainesville, GA but only making it to Toccoa, GA on a gloomy Sunday afternoon with Ex-SOU high hood SD40 no. 3170 leading.

Another damp September morning finds former Southern Railway SD40 No. 3170 in Gainesville yet again, a nice change of scene from the typical black and white thoroughbreds.

The high hood Southern Railway SD40 and 3 other EMDs are absolutely screaming as they fight to get their heavy local freight up the constant 1% grade at Park, three miles railroad north of Toccoa.... (more)

A pair of SD40-2s help with a Chattanooga-bound coal train. Up front are a pair of SD35s and an SD24.

SD35s team with an SD24 to lead coal out of Knoxville and toward Chattanooga. Back in the train an RC car transmits the engineer's every whim to a pair of SD40-2s.

Southbound near Asheville, NC led by SD45 3167.

Ragged and rusted, this old relic still shows its identity thru all the years since it was last used on the railroad. Long live the Southern Railway!
