Early in the morning a heavy eastbound manifest rounds a corner at Cable Crossover with its power shooting exhaust skyward.
This is probably Southern Pacific's Cascade crossing south over Steel Bridge in Portland.
The "San Joaquin Daylight" has just passed the summit on its eastbound trip over the Tehachapi mountains with the Monolith cement plant seen in the distance.
This is the remains of a grade crossing accident, fortunately the train did not derail, it only caused the articulated flat bed to break in half...causing damage only to the crane it was transport... (more)
