A couple U-boats lead a GP35 on westbound 83 at Cedar Lake in 1966. Photo is part of my collection but is not shot by me. No name on slide, scanned from a Ektachrome transparency.

Great Northern had a well maintained depot at Sandpoint, Idaho in the summer of 1968 as shown in this night view. Rex Cauble, the operator, has the order board clear for westbound trains.

Shortly after the merger of GN, NP, SP&S and CB&Q there were many examples of mixed running and mixed consists. Witness this meet at Scribner, WA on the former SP&S with a GN U25B and a NP SD45.

GN 312A is westbound with an iron ore train and is passing a manifest in the siding at Floodwood, MN during the summer of 1969.
