Running late, the SP 4449 leads the Cascades Daylight over the first of several bridge crossings over the Deschutes River, a waterway the train traveled along shortly after reentering Oregon.

An excursion sponsored by the Pacific Limited Group rolls southward along the Deschutes River. The Portland - Bend roundtrip covered the Columbia River Gorge and the Oregon Trunk.
